Cricket World Cup 2007 Super Eights

The Cricket World Cup 2007 Super Eights are under way with the notable absentees being India and Pakistan with Bangladesh and Ireland qualifying in their place.
You never quite know what you are going to get with Pakistan and the absence of bowlers Akhtar and Asif did not do their chances any good either but the failure of India to qualify is a surprise.
Australia are once again looking like the force everyone knows they are with South Africa and Sri Lanka looking like the best of the rest.
The exchange trading highlight came during the match between South Africa and Sri Lanka after the springboks had the better of most of the game and were seemingly coasting towards an easy victory Sri Lanka's odds on Betfair drifted out to 1,000 to win the match but then Sri Lanka's Malinga then took 4 wickets in 4 balls to send those odds hurtling down to sub 3.00.
A total of £139 was matched on Betfair at odds of 1,000 by canny punters that is a total of £138,861.00 profit which is a staggering amount of money to green up when the odds are under 3.00 just a few minutes later.

Cricket World Cup Upsets

So the 2007 cricket world cup is underway predictably there has been quite a few one sided matches as the test playing nations have come up against the minnows although not everything has gone according to plan namely India losing to Bangladesh and Ireland beating Pakistan both of these matches saw huge swings on both the betting exchanges and the spread firms
as the underdogs eventually came out on top.
As the tournament progresses the liquidity and trading opportunities should no doubt improve and reflect some classic one day cricket ahead.

England win 1st Final v Australia

England triumph in the 1st final of the commonwealth bank series beating Australia for the second game in succession.
England appear to have found some form at long last and this was an excellent match for betting exchange trading with the odds flip flopping one way and then the other in the latter stages although earlier in the match you could have had 20's on England as well as a tempting 1.05 lay of Australia so it wasn't just Glenn Mcgrath who had a birthday then (thanks Glen fell off me chair laughing).
Roll on the 2nd final and while many will expect the Aussies to come storming back and level the best of three finals 1-1 stranger things have happened at sea and for the first time on this tour Australia are under a bit of pressure so lets see how they handle it.

England Beat Australia

Every dog has its day and it has been a long time coming on this tour but England finally remembered how to play one day cricket and beat Australia posting a very competitive total of 292-7 with Ed Joyce top scoring with 107 Australia in reply were 200-9 with Andrew Symonds having retired hurt and unable to bat.
Even early on in the game England did look well up for this game although from an Australian perspective this was about as dead a rubber as you can get and looking at the respective team line ups before the start of play this was arguably Englands best chance of winning a match against Australia in this one day series.
No doubt Australia will be back to their best when the finals commence.
